You pull your heavy bag from the passenger seat of your car, accidentally dragging it across the steering wheel and wincing as you prepare for the embarrassment to follow. Relief sets in as you realize you have been spared this time. As you get out of your car you feel the crisp fall air surround you and affirm your outfit choice. “It isn’t summer anymore,” you think to yourself and sigh as you make your way to the familiar front doors. As you approach the doorway you begin to reach for your ID card. Just then a group of friends burst out of the door laughing. Their smiles are so true and joyous and excitement starts to fill you as you remember you soon will see your friends. However, just as soon as the excitement came, it left and confusion set in: where are their masks? As you reach up to feel your own, you touch your smooth chin and remember; the tyranny of covid-19 is over.
